A Letter from the Founder

I trained as an architect. I spent years designing spaces — and I kept coming back to the same obsession: the objects that make a space come alive.

Not furniture. Not lighting. The art.

Specifically, the art that nobody was taking seriously — the handmade, the popular, the craft that takes 200 hours but gets dismissed as “artisanal.” The kind of work you find in a market in Oaxaca or a studio in Mexico City, made by someone who has spent a lifetime mastering color, form, and texture by hand.

I saw the world filling up with AI-generated decoration. Mass-produced prints sold as “art.” Algorithms deciding what goes on your wall. And I thought: there has to be an antidote.

“Art should be handmade, vivid, and alive. If a machine can make it, it’s not art — it’s content.”

Paleto exists to treat popular art with the seriousness of a contemporary gallery. To give Mexican artisans, pop art creators, and independent painters a platform that matches the quality of their work.

Every artist I work with is selected for one reason: their hands create something that no machine, no algorithm, no prompt can replicate. The intersection of Mexican craft tradition and contemporary pop culture is where the most exciting art lives right now — and most of the world hasn’t caught on yet.

This is not a marketplace. This is a gallery. And we’re building a community — collectors who care about provenance, and artists who refuse to be replaced by software.

If you’re here, you probably feel the same way.

Welcome.

Our Philosophy

The Four Pillars

What makes a piece Paleto-worthy

Jean-Paul Gaultier — handcrafted contemporary art piece
Pillar 01

THE HAND

Every piece in our collection is handmade by a living artist. No prints masquerading as originals. No AI-generated imagery. No mass production. We believe art carries the energy of the hand that made it — and that energy is irreplaceable.

Galiano Rouge à Lèvres — vivid color in contemporary art
Pillar 02

THE COLOR

Maximalism is our identity. Color is our weapon. While the world trends toward safe neutrals and algorithmic beige, we choose the explosion. Every Paleto piece is selected for its ability to command a room and refuse to be ignored.

La Phrygia Lisa — art with a story and documented origin
Pillar 03

THE STORY

Every piece has an origin, a process, a creation time. We document the artist, the technique, the hours invested. When you collect a piece from Paleto, you don't just own an object — you own a narrative that connects you to the person who made it.

Karl et Choupette — art shown in architectural context
Pillar 04

THE SPACE

Art exists inside architecture. It doesn't float in a white void — it lives on a wall, in a room, beside a window. We show every piece in real spatial context so you can see how it transforms the space it inhabits.

Every original comes with a signed Certificate of Creation documenting the artist, medium, dimensions, and creation date.

This is our commitment to transparency and provenance. When you collect a piece from Paleto, you receive more than art — you receive its complete story, verified and authenticated.

  • The artist’s name and biography
  • The technique and materials used
  • Exact creation time and process
  • Signed statement of authenticity
  • Unique edition number for limited works

Because knowing who made it — and how — is part of the art.
